Maquoketa Area Community Foundation takes on county-wide name

The name isn’t changed on the door or the letterhead yet, but after 28 years and a state designation as the county’s recipient of an endowment fund program, the Maquoketa Area Community Foundation (MACF) is changing its name to promote a county-wide base and reach.


The board voted to change the organization’s name to the Jackson County Community Foundation this fall.


The organization fundraises and distributes money to county organization based on a competitive grant process. It also manages endowment funds for organizations like the Hurstville Interpretive Center and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Jackson County and holds funds for numerous local scholarships.
