Uncertainty, fear and making the most of it at Andrew

Last week, Andrew eighth graders stuck a neon pink sign to the window of counselor Kim Wagner’s office. “We need to talk. Now!” she recalled.

One of their biggest worries was one faced by most students first transferring from elementary to a middle or larger school. Andrew eighth graders have never experienced a new school building, though: their big graduation is when they get to ‘go upstairs.’

“What if we get lost?” they asked.

The counselor reassured them that even she got lost when she first came to Andrew last year. “Everyone gets lost a little at first, but it’ll be OK,” she said.
